Cedar trees are very old and have been revered spiritually for a long time. They have a history of being used in sweat lodge ceremonies where a pinch of the herb would be thrown on hot rocks to release their aroma. The very sweet aroma of cedar smoke is used to attract positive energies and connect with higher spiritual realms.
Burning sacred herbs is used to achieve a healing state or to reflect upon spiritual dilemmas. This practice comes from an ancient Native American ritual known as smudging. We recommend burning before meditation, yoga, work, having guests over, and even when moving into a new home. When you decide to use it is entirely up to you!
How to Use:
Light your cedar stick on one end until it produces smoke. Walk around your space, making sure to wave smoke in the corners of the room. When done, place your cedar stick in a safe place to burn out. An example would be an abalone shell or a soapstone bowl.
Please be careful not to leave a burning bowl or shell unattended!
